A face oil is one of the simplest products in skin care and one of the easiest to misread. Oil does one structural job, which is sitting on the surface and slowing the loss of water that something else put there. The label lets you separate those cases. Read past the marketing paragraph to the ingredient list and look for a genuine INCI peptide name: palmitoyl tripeptide-1, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, acetyl hexapeptide-8, copper tripeptide-1. If instead you find a stylised supplier name with no corresponding standard entry, or only a phrase covering a complex, treat the claim as unverified. There is a second consequence of anhydrous design worth knowing. With essentially no free water the formula does not support microbial growth the way a cream does, so traditional broad-spectrum preservatives may be minimal or absent.
